A funny feeling unfolds when you slip your arms into a new leather jacket. It’s not quite other-worldly but is ripe with an almost visceral giddiness. Thanks to cinematic badasses like Arthur Fonzarelli, Danny Zuko, and Stanley Kowalski, leather outerwear gained an undeniable street cred that altered the face of casual menswear forever.

Armani Exchange recently asked me to test-drive a few pieces from their fall collection. I quickly gravitated towards the edgier basics and raw denim – as I am inclined to do – until I spotted this faux leather and wool moto jacket. Slim-fitting and insanely comfortable, this jacket is one of my new fall favorites. Unlike some leather and faux leather jackets that tend to swallow your frame, this A/X jacket employs a bevy of visual contours to accentuate the chest and shoulders. So what do you think? Would you consider this jacket for fall?

I’m sure you’ll ask me, the jeans are from A/X, too. And yes – they’re perfect for those of us in the “small waist, athletic thigh” category.

And just like that, summer is slowly slipping through my fingers. It’s been an absolute whirlwind but I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t ready to bundle up, sip hot cider, and hibernate. Winter is kind of “my” season so I’m steadily looking forward to it. I jump on every chance to pre-dress for winter. Case in point, this colorful look featuring some of my favorite Spring/Summer pieces from Salvatore Ferragamo.

The two-layer jacket is my favorite thing. Light, flexible, and in the most vibrant salmon color, this jacket ignites this outfit from a muted look to a bold statement maker.  And the shoes.. yes, I know. They’re part of the Alexander McQueen for Puma collection and they are comfortably in-your-face. What do you think of this look?

I couldn’t stop thinking about this shirt ever since I saw it hanging on a rack in a PR showroom. There is was … graphic, bold, and calling out my name. Now – cut to months later – when I found it on sale from recently-closed Mind The Chap for $15. That’s right… I picked up my new favorite shirt for $15. Couldn’t believe it!

Unfortunately, I can’t find another retailer that carries this shirt. However, check out General Idea just to get some ‘menswear lust’ flowing through your system today. I’m also terribly obsessed with this new iPad Mini case I received from Octovo, a new luxury travel brand that specializes in leather tech accessories. What do you think?

When I need to escape from reality for a bit, I find myself craving a corner seat at a locally-owned coffee shop. Nothing calms my “life-anxiety” quite like an iced coffee. I hop on the free wi-fi and surf the web or finish up the latest must-read book I downloaded on my iPad. On this particular afternoon, I had the pleasure of spending it with a talented photographer and friend Emma Kepley. She has such a keen eye for weathered yet crisp photographs and if you haven’t checked out her site – it’s about time you did!

We met up at Gasoline Alley Coffee on Lafayette, near Houston. I grabbed an iced espresso and a bold and bright hibiscus donut – obviously a choice only made because it was National Donut Day. (I admit, I didn’t find this fact out until days later. I just love donuts, generally speaking.)

For those who are curious: Emma shoots with a Canon 5D Mark ii + 50mm f/1.4 lens or 85mm f/1.4 lens. My camera is a Nikon D600 + 50mm f/1.4 lens.

Tovar Clothing / Scout Sixteen

Unless you live in a major metro area, it’s hard to understand the love-hate relationship a straphanger has with the underground rail systems. Most mornings, I board the NRQ trains headed in either direction depending on my schedule. And every morning, there is some odd occurrence that has me wishing I’d never boarded: a homeless man with odorous feet only inches from my seat, the little girl who’s nursing what appears to be the bubonic plague, and - most dreaded of all - the frequent and far-too-loud mariachi bands that seem to appear from thin air.

I roll my eyes and make an audible scoff but when I’ve arrived at my stop and climb my way back to reality, I sort of miss the amusement of being a part of an underground moving circus. Like an endless cycle, I’m at it again.

Paris-based brand Sandro has been a favorite designer of mine for a few seasons now. Their bohemian approach to high fashion has earned them a loyal following both on and off the pages of the world’s fashion authorities, like Elle, GQ and the New York Times.

It’s rare that I find designer pieces that I’d want to wear again and again. Sometimes the print is too heavy, or the fabric isn’t breathable – whatever it may be, I have a hard time finding “regulars” in my wardrobe. Just about every piece in Sandro’s Men’s Collection is a “regular” for me. This baseball jersey tee is - and I say this with sincerity - amazing!

I paired it with these hunter green hi-top sneakers from Inspire The Brand.

Weekend Getaway / Scout Sixteen

Last month, I went to Miami and got the beach bug. You know that unexplainable feeling that makes being inside unbearable … apparently, the only medicine for that is cloudless sunny weather and sand between your toes. That said, I’m making plans to take frequent day trips or weekend jaunts to some of the amazing spots in and around New York City.

I’ve made it a habit to keep a bag packed and ready when the travel bug starts to itch. Here’s what is inside my ‘Getaway Bag’:

1. Onia Stripe Towels  - These towels are stylish without being over-the-top.

2. Onia Shorts in OrangeThis swimsuit plays double-duty as a street short and swim trunk.

3. Onia Shorts in FloralI think we all know I can’t travel without a little floral in tow.

4. Sebago Boat Shoe - Seriously one of the most comfortable, breathable shoes I own.

5. Coach Canvas Tote – This weekend bag makes getting out the door easy and organized.

6. Frends Headphones – On the train, by the pool, or in the sand, these headphones steal the show.

7. Tom Ford SunglassesSince it’s likely the only Tom Ford item I’ll ever get to own, I make these not-so-pricey sunnies a must.

8. Goorin Brothers Straw FedoraWhen it’s hot outside, this bad boy keeps me cool. And look good on anyone, too.

8. iPad Mini – This miniature gadget keeps my life organized and stores all my favorite magazines for easy reading.

Want to shop my ‘Getaway Bag’ items? The good news is you can! MYHABIT has all the items in GREEN in stock starting today in their Swim & Sun Shop. Click Here to check it out!

Spring is the season I most look forward to each year: date-night weather, weekend road trips, and Sunday brunches in sidewalk cafés. There is something uniquely cool about spring style. Maybe it’s the ‘devil-may-care’ look of a rolled-up jean or the effortless effect tailored shorts give to any leg, I’m just in love with spring fashion.
