Welcome to the newest series on my blog where I get to the down and dirty with some of my favorite creators in fashion, travel, beauty, and food. To start us off, we’ve the Charleston-based blogger Timmy Kelly, who also happens to be one of my favorite style guys on Instagram right now. He has a wonderfully-keen eye for vintage and his passion for the finer things is evident on his Instagram page and in his YouTube videos.
Full Name + Instagram Handle?
Timothy J. Kelly and my Instagram handle is @its_Timmy.
Who is your biggest style inspiration?
It’s honestly so hard to pick one person for my biggest style inspo. However, if I have to choose, I can narrow it down to a mix between Harry Styles and a vintage Ralph Lauren.
What’s the last item of clothing you bought?
The last thing I purchased was a vintage Burberry trench. It’s one of the ones with a 60’s style collar. I saw someone wear it inside out as well, so… maybe I have two new jackets?
What’s a trend you wish you never tried?
Skinny Jeans. I just look so bad in them… AKA: these hip’s lie big time when I wear them.
What’s your most treasured possession?
My camera is worth an arm and a leg to me, but I have a gold necklace from Paris that my mom got me and I never take it off.
What three items could you not live without?
Hair gel, my Levi’s, and my cell phone… if that’s applicable. If not, then I’d have to say a good tote bag.
What phrase or word do you most overuse?
‘Juxtapose’ is a word I use *far* too often.
What’s something you wish you could change about yourself?
I wish I was able to gain muscle more easily. I feel like I work out fairly hard (… I think?) but I don’t have a big build.
What’s your go-to grooming/beauty tip?
Moisturize your face once a day at least. It’s a lifesaver! I also recently saw a video where a guy was talking about crimping his eyelashes, and I can’t say I didn’t try it and love the look of it.
What’s the best trip you’ve ever been on?
NYC is always a blast since I don’t live close, but I also love Spain.
Boxers, briefs, or birthday suit?
Briefs, but somewhere between briefs birthday suit if I’m feeling myself!
What’s a trait you’re most known for?
I’ve always loved fashion, so a lot of people know me because I dress “crazy” or “grandpa-ish” at times.
What trait do you value most in your friends?
I love a friend that I don’t have to try with. I love being able to be myself around someone!
What’s your hidden talent?
It’s not so much a talent, and frankly a little too quirky, but I know an insane amount of information about chickens. (I used to brood them from chicks and kept a coop in my backyard growing up.)
What did you want to be as a kid?
I always thought I was going to be a vet until I realized how much schooling they have to go through!
What’s the first thing you would buy if you won the lottery?
A pair of Calvin Klein 205W39NYC Western Boots… and then a trip somewhere because those boots *are* made for walking.
What’s your greatest fear?
Being alone for too long – starts with stress and just turns into straight fear.
Best advice you’ve ever received?
It’s more of a saying my mom told me, but it’s applicable in an advice type of way: “You’re never where you think you’ll be in a year.” It’s helped me deal with a lot of different situations.
What is your motto?
C’est La Vie
