1 Spring Trench, 3 Ways

With spring finally in bloom here in New York City, I have been so stoked to trade in my oversized, overstuffed winter puffers for a more slim, trendy silhouette. Over the last few months I have been stocking up on early deals with some of my favorite shops and was so excited when one of my go-to online shops, boohooMAN, asked if I wanted to partner up for a spring challenge: create three outfits around one of their standout spring jackets. Naturally, I jumped at the chance!

For the challenge, I decided to go with this simple but trench trench coat. I loved that the faux suede fabric gave it some depth without sacrificing its slim profile. Now… a trench is one of those jackets that flatters every body – and the harder challenge would be to find an outfit that didn’t work well with a trench. Ha!

I opted for three separate looks: all-over neutrals, classic wear-to-work, and a weekend brunch vibe. For the all-over neutrals, I paired the trench with this killer seersucker shorts set. I mean, come on… how cool is this combo? I usually gear towards neutrals and classic lines for the summer so this look will be on my weekly rotation for sure.

For the classic wear-to-work outfit, I went with an upgraded t-shirt and cropped windowpane trousers. I like how the jacket brightens up the look without distracting too much from the visual lines the windowpane trousers cuts across the bottom half of my body. Tip: I opted for sneakers with this look but if you have a more professional atmosphere, you could absolutely trade the sneakers in for a classic brogue or slip-on loafer!

And, finally, this weekend brunch look was hands-down one of my favorites! I’ve always said I dress for the weekend every day – so this look was an easy sell for me! A white embroidered tee and patchwork jeans keep the outfit simple but with lots of visual interest. And I love how bright and cheery this look is against the backdrop of New York’s Gramercy neighborhood. Speaking of… I should probably make that reservation for today’s brunch!

This was such a fun challenge and I’d love to hear which look is your favorite! If you’re not familiar with boohooMan, it’s about time you were! They offer an incredible catalog of trendy, affordable pieces – and it’s been a one-stop shop for me over the last few years to pick up classic basics and fashion-forward pieces that won’t break the bank.
