Scout Sixteen - #ConradCarryOn

When I travel, I divide my packing into two units: the checked luggage and the carry on. I’m very particular about what items get the seal of approval for carry-on status. I dub them my ‘travel essentials’ (some of which you saw in this recent post) because quite honestly, traveling would be a pain without them.

Here’s a little preview of what I’m packing for my trip to California next week…

1. Banana Republic Scarf, Ted Baker Baseball Cap, Bally Swiss Bracelet and AllSaints Jacket… each of these pieces keep my style in check even at 35,000 feet.
2. Coach Carry-On Tote, Passport Case, and Octovo iPad Mini Case… the necessary leather goods I need to protect my MacBook and iPad.
3. Frends Headphones… stylish as hell with amazing sound.
4. Daniel Wellington Watch and Station Alarm Clock… when I’m traveling to different time zones, these two bad boys keep me in check in the hotel and on the go.

Every year around August, I start getting major FOMO (fear of missing out) for last-minute summer activities. I spend most of those final days complaining that summer went by too fast. It feels like just yesterday I was boarding a plane to Miami for a weekend getaway. I’m hoping to make one last trip before I say hello to the fall foliage. Will you be traveling at all during these remaining summer-weather weeks?

In other news, I’m a sucker for customizable apparel. It’s nice to be able to play designer every now and again with things I purchase. Cue this new site Apliiq, where you can customize anything from jeans to cardigans with one of a thousand fabrics in Apliiq‘s textile library. I gave my slim jeans a trendy floral back pocket – what do you think?

Plaid is one of the few patterns that can look great on anybody. It’s the chameleon of the pattern world – with a variety of colors present in plaid, it’s an easy match to most other pieces in an outfit. Since it was one of my more casual days, I tossed on a pair of my favorite jeans and sneakers to run a few errands around the City.

I’m only just now realizing my wardrobe is heavy in the blue hues. Maybe time to mix it up?

Scout Sixteen - Greetings from DenmarkScout Sixteen - Greetings from DenmarkScout Sixteen - Coach Passport Case

Greetings from Denmark! After a long day of traveling (and not sleeping), Christina and I arrived in Copenhagen. It’s one of the most beautiful and refreshing cities I’ve been to in ages. The carefree but careful way this country lives is so inspiring. Bikes are rarely locked up, everyone says hello, and the food is delicious.

The sense of style is so lax as if each one of these beautiful people were born with an innate sense of how to dress. More than one older woman (successfully) rocked studded cardigans and leggings. Even young children look like they’ve stepped out of a fashion editorial. It’s as if two worlds collided here and I’m loving every minute of it. Over the next 5 days, I’ll be posting with “postcards from Denmark”.

Special thanks to H&M who invited Christina and I out here for this amazing opportunity. We’re so excited to attend the Roskilde Festival today. Almost the entire city of Roskilde is painted orange in honor of the festival, which includes hundreds of bands over the course of 8 days. Follow my instagram for up-to-minute updates from afar!

I had the pleasure of attending (for the second time) the Coach Carnival event on the High Line. It’s always one of my favorite evenings of the summer – filled with carnival games, street food, and a bevy of specialty cocktails. The best part is spending the evening on New York’s impressive High Line and conversing with friends (like Christine, Eliot, and Keiko shown above) until long after the sun has set. Coach is a company that has always been so good to me – I’ve really come to love the team there and consider them good friends. I can’t thank them enough for starting my summer off just right.

It’s common knowledge that New Yorkers stick together – the unsaid rule is: you take care of you own. New York accessories giant Coach recently collaborated with Brooklyn-based creative agency KRINK. The man behind the madness, Craig Costello (known commonly as KR) drew upon the grunge aesthetic of his native Queens in the mid-1980s. A carefully-executed collection crafted amazing results, like this amazing lock portfolio. Costello used a 30-step silk screening process to produce his signature drip effect.

As a lover of grungier pieces, I was an immediate fan. KRINK definitely re-envisioned Coach Men’s direction with this collaboration by bringing classic Coach styles onto the ‘street crowd’.

I won’t lie… I love a good blizzard. Any excuse I can use to stay in my apartment drinking a beer with my roommates is welcomed. I spent most of the weekend running around to different events for New York Fashion Week but, thankfully, found some time to myself to relax and unwind. I may or may not have watched Matilda on ABC Family… and, truth be told, that may have been a highlight for my weekend. (To note: I was eating mini-tacos from Seven-Eleven whilst watching, so it definitely heightened the glamour of the situation)

On Saturday, Christina and I decided we would spend the afternoon playing in the snow. Ten minutes later … we were back inside. It was just enough time to snap a few pictures.
