Iāve lived in New York City for 3,011 days. Thatās just over eight years. And in those eight years – while Iāve garnered enough incredible memories to last a lifetime ā Iāve always been a creature of habit. I buy groceries at the same shop, I buy my egg sandwiches from the same deli, and I go to the same theater for movie nights. This routine would bore some people, but I relish in knowing exactly what my day will hold ā the sights, sounds, tastes, and smells.
Hereās the thing: I work a lot. I absolutely adore my job and Iāve been blessed with some wonderful career opportunities; however, I am in a position that requires my undivided attention ā 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Meetings fluctuate, appointments vary, and some weeks Iāve spent more time on an airplane than the ground – but my day-to-day routine offers little variety.
This month, in partnership with my friends at Coca-Cola Freestyle, I was challenged to break up that monotony to find the light and bright side of New York City inspired by their lighter beverage options. With this inspiration, I focused on exploring a few fun, personal items on my NYC checklist. I never afford myself free time so this was a real treat.
I started off my day with a carb-y breakfast of a Dough doughnut (or six) before heading to the Met for a few hours of artful exploration. The weather had shifted for the better so I decided to stroll some of my old haunting grounds in Central Park. There was this one spot where I would sit, write, and people watch; sitting there again brought back a flood of memories and positive energy.
After leaving the Park, I treated myself to a 60-minute massage before meeting my friend Grant for a late lunch at New York Burger Co. This spot is my go-to spot for cheat days on my diet ādelicious burgers, a mind-bogglingly amount of dipping sauces, and a Coca-Cola Freestyle machine. In case you havenāt read my previous post, Coca-Cola Freestyle is a touch-screen soda fountain that allows you to mix-and-match some of your favorite Coca-Cola beveragesā giving you access to 100+ unique beverage choices ā including 70+ low-cal and no-calorie options.
I opted for Coke Zero Vanilla ā perfectly light, simple, yet incredibly flavorful. Even though I picked simply, I love that Coca-Cola Freestyle offers up so many low-cal and no-cal options. Other favorite combinations were: Powerade Zero Grape and Seagramās Diet Ginger Ale Raspberry.
With so many low and no-cal options, which will you choose? Curate your favorites here.
