The holidays are always so exciting around New York City. On the weekends in December, I always carve out an hour or two to bundle up and walk around taking in all of the holiday cheer. I was recently gifted this incredible Olympus Pen-F and have been snapping with it non-stop. It’s compact and lightweight but packs a serious punch with some of the most advanced imaging technology on the market.
Yesterday, I took the Pen-F out for a test drive around one of my favorite spots to pick up last minute gifts, the Union Square Christmas Village. If you haven’t checked it out, it’s an absolute must on any NYC checklist. Vendors line the main promenade hawking wares as simple as knitwear all the up to quirky hand-carved trinkets and even fairy-inspired terrariums! And seeing this through the lens of my Olympus Pen-F was just the icing on the cake.
The photos I captured were nothing short of perfect for a camera as compact as the Pen-F. The colors were vibrant and with some powerful image stabilization (and advanced sensor technology) on board, my pictures came out clear and razor-sharp on the first try, every time! Plus, this retro-inspired powerhouse has a 20MP MOS sensor and Wifi built right in – which means getting images to my phone for quick posting is a snap!
I meandered around the Christmas Village and picked up a few favorites before finishing up with some shopping around Gramercy and Flatiron. Walking home, I stumbled onto the cutest sidewalk Christmas tree “farm” and knew I had to stop for some photos. Adorable, right? Ugh, I just love New York City in the winter!
What are some of your favorite holiday spots? I’m always looking for recommendations for my next weekend walkabout!
