When I need to escape from reality for a bit, I find myself craving a corner seat at a locally-owned coffee shop. Nothing calms my “life-anxiety” quite like an iced coffee. I hop on the free wi-fi and surf the web or finish up the latest must-read book I downloaded on my iPad. On this particular afternoon, I had the pleasure of spending it with a talented photographer and friend Emma Kepley. She has such a keen eye for weathered yet crisp photographs and if you haven’t checked out her site – it’s about time you did!
We met up at Gasoline Alley Coffee on Lafayette, near Houston. I grabbed an iced espresso and a bold and bright hibiscus donut – obviously a choice only made because it was National Donut Day. (I admit, I didn’t find this fact out until days later. I just love donuts, generally speaking.)
For those who are curious: Emma shoots with a Canon 5D Mark ii + 50mm f/1.4 lens or 85mm f/1.4 lens. My camera is a Nikon D600 + 50mm f/1.4 lens.
