june recap

the feeling when summer has just begun

Let’s be honest, the first truly warm day feels like a personal reward for surviving winter. My light jackets get shoved into the back of my closet, the sun comes out, and suddenly I’m standing on the sidewalk with my eyes closed letting that delicious warmth soak into my face. Oh god… this is what happiness feels like.

And you know the rule: sky’s out, thighs out. June officially welcomes shorts season, along with the annual realization that my legs have not seen direct sunlight in months and are, in fact, translucent. The City comes alive in a way it simply refuses to every other season. Sidewalks fill up, restaurant windows disappear, and every patch of grass becomes prime real estate for blanket picnics. New York is practically buzzing—and for once, it isn’t just the sound of someone laying on their horn. Give me a seconddd, the light JUST changed… sheesh!

Happy hours also become that much sweeter when we can sit outside. A quick drink in the sunshine is never actually quick, which explains how one margarita becomes an extra margarita—or three. Add in a suspicious number of June birthdays, and suddenly every week has another reason to celebrate someone I love. My calendar was full, my evenings ran late, and my serotonin was finally behaving like a productive member of society.

Of course, June usually likes to remind us who’s boss. On the hottest days, I retreat to a late-afternoon movie under the guise of “supporting cinema,” when tbh I’m mostly there because theaters have the best air-conditioning within an 8-mile radius. Alltogether, June was warm faces, bare thighs, and one-too-many patio margaritas. Here are the photos that made it all worth remembering!

But tell me… what made YOUR June feel like summer?
