Scout Sixteen - Under $100 Home Décor

At any age, moving into a new apartment can be a wallet-busting experience. Between broker fees, miscellaneous charges, and the cost of transporting your valuables, you can pay upwards of a few thousand dollars.

I remember moving into my first apartment in New York City and watching my bank account dwindle rapidly. I had little to no money expendable income to personalize my new pad and make it feel like a “home.” Thankfully, I learned some tricks along the way about how you can furnish an apartment on a budget. From inexpensive décor accents to shopping local flea markets for spot-on finds, I was able to craft an apartment that felt very “me.”

Whether you’re moving in to your first post-college pad or you’re looking to revamp your current digs, I’ve put together a collage of twelve items – all under $100 – that can turn an ordinary apartment into an extraordinary space with little effort! Which piece is your favorite?

  1. Wall Art ($89) – this is a great site for searching thousands of original artwork and illustrations, which you can buy pre-framed and ready to hang!
  2. Hanging Bulletin Board ($45) – I loved the idea of installing this near your front door or your desk to hold mail, photos, or ideas you need to remember.
  3. Leaning Ladder ($99) – This leaning ladder is a great place to hang colorful throws or your favorite magazines. Plus, it’ll look great in any living room.
  4. Table Lamp ($99) – Minimal and handsome, this table lamp is sure to make a statement on a side table or your desk.
  5. Throw Pillow ($89) – Who doesn’t love putting on your favorite Netflix show and kicking back on a fuzzy pillow?!
  6. Woodsy Candle ($40) – This candle from Tatine is one of my absolute favorite scents. Masculine and powerful, the ‘Forest Floor’ scent is perfect as an indoor alternative for nature-lovers.
  7. Car Pillow ($15) – Cheeky and inexpensive, my favorite combination!
  8. Round Mirror ($25) – A round mirror opens up any space with modern design and minimalist flair.
  9. Wall Clock ($80) – You’ll never run behind with a colorful wall clock featuring a large-number display.
  10. Wooden Pyramid Sculptures ($20 and $30) – One of the ‘Seven Wonders of the World’ gets a natural makeover with these coffee table-appropriate accents.
  11. The Monocle Guide to Better Living ($37) – Bright and bold, this book holds some fantastic tips and looks great in the living room.
  12. The Stuff of Life ($26) – Grab some inspiration from this home décor book while offering a colorful alternative to coffee table literature.
