With great power comes great responsibility, and with great responsibility comes considerable stress. I always assumed that tranquility followed success, but sadly that isn’t the case; the greater your success, the more demanding your schedule becomes. I think I can speak for all of us in saying this year has been incredibly taxing. I’ve watched so many of my friends/colleagues discover new levels of success and professional progress, but at what cost? We’re paying for it with our time. We’re being wound like mechanical clocks awaiting the inevitable day when we malfunction.

Have you seen the movie In Time? It’s not particularly impressive but the gist of the film really hit home for me. The film’s protagonists, Will and Sylvia, live in a world where time is the only currency. Your morning coffee may cost you 4 minutes; a trip across borders will cost you 3 days. Time has become such a commodity and I plan on taking back some of mine with meditation. Have you ever tried meditation? Do you have any tips or tricks?

(I’ll do a post in the next week or two to track my progress and give you guys some helpful tips)

As you can tell, I have a soft spot for black denim. I know I’m a big advocate of paring back clothing, but my unnatural addiction for black jeans runs deep. I recently picked up this pair of AG denim from Nordstrom and I can’t stop wearing them. (I’ve mentioned this before but Nordstrom is like denim heaven. They carry just about every brand you can imagine, so making a decision is tough. My favorites of the bunch are definitely AG and Hudson!) I paired the jeans with a striped button-down and one of my new favorite topcoats from Topman. I love a good monochromatic color scheme and this black-and-blue look is one I think can work just as well in the office as it can for weekend adventures. What do you think of the look?
