I remember it was early on Saturday morning. I was maybe 8 or 9 years old and itching to get outside for a much-needed backyard excursion. I was waiting patiently for my favorite Levi’s to finish drying – checking in on the process every few minutes hoping time had suddenly passed at warp speed.

My Levi’s were so incredibly worn-in with patches marking memories of scuffed knees and tears from climbing one too many trees. Denim has always been and will forever be a staple of my life. I have countless pairs in my closet showing off the full spectrum of wash and fit. No matter how hard I try, I gravitate towards my favorite pairs every time.

I recently scored my favorite Levi 511‘s from Nordstrom – who carry off-sizes for those of us who don’t always fit in the norm. [insert cheeky smile] Nordstrom has come to be my one-stop shop for tailored essentials but their selection of premium denim is absolutely mind-boggling. I must’ve tried on forty pairs of jeans before settling back on my trusted 511’s… sending this public apology to the lovely team from Nordstrom at The Grove (like fellow blogger Kristina) helping me out.

Do you have a favorite pair of jeans? Is there a pair that fits like nothing else? Let me know in the comments! Be sure to take a peek at my favorite 511’s and other fantastic pairs from Nordstrom’s massive denim selection below…

  1. I have a pair of 511s that I got last year and I can’t get enough of them. I’m picky when it comes to pants and how they fit, but these have always been great.

  2. How do the 511 Rigid Dragon’s fit? I’ve heard size up one and I’ve heard to order your size. Which do you recommend?

  3. I found a pair of Levi’s LVC 501’s 1954 Z two summers ago and have yet to find a pair that fit as well as they do; they’ve become my go to. My problem with finding jeans is that I have very long (34-36″ inseam) skinny legs but thicker thighs, so it’s hard for me to find jeans that are a) long enough and b) fitted in the leg and c) flattering in the thigh. What’s neat about Levi’s Vintage Clothing 501’s is that they offer a version of the 501’s faithfully reproduced from different decades’ patterns, so the wearer has the advantage of getting the 501 style, but can choose which decade fits their body type and style best. Turns out I was born to live in the 50’s, because the slim and tapered carrot shape (who knew?) 501’s fit my needs perfectly AND are long enough with room to add a small cuff to expose the selvedge.
