Unpopular opinion: I really don’t like snow. But.. I’ll admit there’s something the tiniest bit magical about snow days in NYC, especially now that they’re increasingly rare. I’m not a total curmudgeon! Yesterday morning, the City took a collective pause to savor a few hours of pristine snowfall… because, as any New Yorker knows, it inevitably melts into depressing piles of gray slush by late afternoon. While everyone else stuck to their typical blacks and grays (the infamous “NYC uniform”), I went full-on rainbow bright. Y’all already know I’m not one to blend in!
Since my seasonal depression has been extra spicy lately, I’ve had to find new ways to remind myself that warmer days are ahead. Today’s remedy? These spring pastels. Tomorrow’s? That’s a problem for future Justin. Listen… I can appreciate a cinematic snowy morning like anyone else, but, I’ll be honest, these bitterly cold days are ’bout to have me spiraling.
Spring, for the love of all things holy, please come early. My mental health will be forever grateful. Until then, this 12-foot scarf and I will continue hopscotch’ing around these damn slush puddles. xx Justin
