Scout Sixteen - Summer Suiting

If you’ve been a follower of my blog or Instagram for some time, you’ll know that I’m not a wearer of conventional suiting. I love the idea and process behind mixing it up – why aim for cookie cutter, right? One of my favorite ways to dress down a traditional suit for my more casual weekday activities is to pair a favorite blazer with classic chinos in a muted color and a slick pair of white Converse sneakers. It’s meeting (and event) appropriate but can easily transition to happy hour with friends or dinner with clients.

I saw this Ted Baker blazer on Nordstrom’s website a few weeks ago and kept clicking back over to it. I figured I’d go ahead and plan a look around it. The light blue chinos (also Ted Baker) are cheeky and fun without being over the top. Like the outfit, the briefcase bag (from Filson) also works well in any situation.

I’ve been happy to see how robust Nordstrom’s casual suiting offering is. They carry brands like Hugo Boss, Topman, and Ted Baker, which offer affordable and stylish options for guys. I’m not much of a tie-guy but you’ve got to see how extensive their tie catalog is… upwards of 500 options!

Would you wear this look? How would you make it your own?
