I’ve always felt like I had my act together; I work hard, I enjoy social activities, and I’m (almost always) able to maintain a perfect balance. You wouldn’t know it looking at my living room. When I first moved in to my East Village apartment in 2012, it was amidst a chaotic few months of my life riddled with too much travel and an over-exhaustive work schedule. My roommates and I haphazardly laid a floor plan of hodge-podge furniture and memorabilia… and that’s how it stayed for almost three years.

I work from home most of the week yet my space was so jarring that little work actually got done. I felt like I was constantly griping about how my apartment looked more like a college fraternity house than the apartment of an adult human with a creative job. I was in desperate need of a change. Needless to say, when West Elm offered to transform my space as part of their ongoing #WEsmallspace series, I jumped on the opportunity.

I enlisted the help of Homepolish and their resident West Coast Creative Director (and my good friend) Orlando Soria to weave a colorful story and create a space where I could work, entertain, and – most importantly – relax. I’m so thrilled to show off the exquisite work that West Elm, Homepolish and Orlando did to my living room. We snagged some fantastic modern pieces from West Elm – like this gorgeous sofa, wall sconces, duo of colorful retro chairs, and coffee table – to transform the space from floor to ceiling.

The woven rug adds so much color to the space and ended up being one of my favorite parts of the whole transformation. Homepolish tapped incredible artist Shane Neufeld to infuse my walls with a heavy dose of abstract color and I am beyond obsessed with his diptych. If you haven’t checked out his other work, it’s an absolute must!

I can’t thank West Elm, Homepolish, and Orlando enough for updating my life in such a major way. I know it sounds corny but I feel like I got a piece of my sanity back! My old living room was such an eyesore and I was desperate for a refresh. If you’re finding yourself in a similar situation, I really encourage you to check out Homepolish – they offer beautiful and affordable interior design by the hour. Whether you’re in need of a little editing or you’re dying for a full revamp (like me), Homepolish is your new favorite company.

So… what do you guys think? What’s your favorite part of the makeover?
