Yes, I know. White walls can be quite frightening. Walking into a white room can feel a little like walking through a hospital hallway: sterile and boring. But I’m here to tell you – it doesn’t have to be! For those with design-savvy minds, a while wall is merely a canvas with which to display your creative inspiration piece by piece. Wall color is the “get out of jail free” card when it comes to design. You can instantly illuminate and energize a room with a paint brush and a little guidance from the gurus at Home Depot, but with a white wall you are challenged to turn a interiors no-no into something personal (and live-able).

Whether by organized “clutter” or the simple addition of something vibrant, a white room gains weight and artistic balance. In the images above, I love how a purposely-loose American flag gives an otherwise unseen corner a jolt of simple pride and becomes a conversation piece. On the other hand,  dark furniture and mesmerizing parquet floors draw the eye toward the internal architecture for a “wow factor” living room. Bottom line: Don’t be afraid of white because in wall color – more often than not – less is much handsomely more.

  1. I totally agree with you, White spaces are full of posibilities and for me as a designer I love them! you can do so many things over and over again and it remains great!
Dark furniture makes a beautiful contrast.
