I’m excited to introduce a fun style challenge between Scout Sixteen and DIESEL to show off famed designer Nicola Formichetti’s first collection for the storied denim house. Nicola was inspired by DIESEL founder Renzo Rosso’s dedication to telling a story with each piece he created. Scouring the DIESEL archives for inspiration, Nicola has created an incredible collection infused with the essence of the modern day heroes (like David Bowie, Iggy Pop, and the Velvet Underground) born in London, New York City, and Tokyo during the ’70s and ’80s.
For this collaborative effort, I got the chance to style a spectacular denim jacket from his first collection. New York is in a constant state of growth. Scaffolding and piping climb up sides of buildings like ivy on a tudor home. I love living in a city that continues to improve itself. Like DIESEL, New York is dirty and extreme in the best way possible. I wanted to showcase my jacket with a part of the city I love most – its constructive nature.
