When I shop online, one of the first categories I click within any website is “Shirts”. I’m a bit of an addict when it comes to tops. I’m a creature of habit when it comes to my jeans or trousers (I’ll wear the same ones over and over) but I can throw on a different shirt and create an entire new look. When UK e-tailer Northern Threads asked me to select my favorite shirts from their site, I had a hard time choosing my favorites; there were so many! These eight tops are items I’m hoping to see in my closet very soon…

New Balance + Finger Croxx CollaborationNew Balance + Finger Croxx Collaboration

I’m usually a one-trick pony when it comes to my footwear. My collection is rather extensive but I end up sticking to the two or three pairs that would likely be classified as surgical extensions of my feet. I usually think, “if it has wingtips, i’ll like it”… that is until I saw this insanely killer collaboration between New Balance and Hong Kong based boutique and brand Fingercroxx.

The MT580 has already been a favorite among the outdoor crowd as a trail-runner, but this modern makeover with camo lining and electric green accents take this fan favorite to the next level. The design has been expertly considered and creatively executed for a product that has stylish guys worldwide clamoring for a pair.

The collaborative shoe launched on New Year’s Day and will be carried in select retailers. Sources say END Clothing will be receiving a few pairs… so keep your eyes peeled!

It was like slow-motion seeing my family for the first time at the airport. They drove up to the baggage claim and the only thing I could see was a flurry of hands waving from behind the glass. I got the biggest bear hugs of all time, jumped in the car and headed off for 9 days of relaxation and renewal with the most all-time greatest people in my life!

I feel rested and completely re-energized for a new, incredible year ahead. Chasing your dreams can be the thorniest path you’ll follow but hard work always pays off. 2013 is going to be a great year … and I can’t wait to share it with all of you!

Scout Sixteen - Ferragamo

Spent an afternoon in Washington Square Park with Bonnie. It’s been imperative lately that I spend time just being a ‘normal New Yorker’. My schedule lately has been absolutely non-stop. While I can’t complain about being able to work steadily, it’s really been taking its toll on me. I’ve decided Saturdays are my day.

Scout Sixteen - Vulpin NYC

This is what I call my “can’t miss this” look. A little like the lovechild between an 80′s London chap and a parking cone… all kinds of attention-grabbing going on. But this tie… totally diggin’ it. I rarely wear pink but I thought this vinyl-wrapped pink tie  from Vulpin NYC was an out-of-the-box option for me.

Founded by fashion photographer James Nord, Vulpin NYC is infused with the idea that menswear can be quirky. In an age when the sartorial bar is raised so high, it’s easy for men to get lost in the “classics” and forget to add personality to their fashion choices. With Vulpin, these color-blocked ties are a simple way to have fun with your style.

Scout Sixteen - Men's Camel Coat
There is something inexplicably dashing about a classic camel coat. This one from Topman was surprisingly inexpensive ($180) and meshes well with just about any color palette.

Hermes Un Jardin Apres La MoussonHermes Un Jardin Apres La Mousson

Extra-Sensory Perception

One of my favorite scents right now is Hermès’ Un Jardin Apres La Mousson. This light, airy scent is the perfect companion when my senses need a little pick-me-up. The first spritz is all it takes to freeze my mornings – transporting me to India’s Kerala ocean-front state. Invigorating ginger mixed with cool spices and notes of vetiver hidden in the underbelly… pure bliss.

I’m a big fan of perfumer Jean-Claude Ellena‘s other scents, but this one in particular struck a special chord. Even after a half-hour of wear, some newer indistinct tones were coming through: an earthy vibe with a hint of fresh florals.

If you haven’t tried it, you really should. It has become my ‘scent of the season’ – a perfect representation of my mood during autumn. Sometimes when I close my eyes, I can feel my mind calm and my body relax. Try it… it works!
