Brooklyn Bicycle Co

I have a very detailed memory of riding my bicycle without training wheels for the first time. I was 7 years old. My dad let go of my bike on the driveway, I rode steadily for about 2 feet, and, like a clip from America’s Funniest Home Videos, fell with an absolute lack of grace. I cried and refused to attempt it again – content with being the type of person who rides with training wheels forever. Thankfully, it would be less than a year before the training wheels were off and I was riding like a boss… well, more like the boss’ assistant but corporate nonetheless.

Throughout high school and college, I biked for exercise. Once I moved to New York, the cacophony of street traffic kept my biking at bay. Last year, I signed up for a public bike-sharing program and found riding through the Big Apple was a lot easier than I originally assumed. Dedicated bike lanes and newly-installed bicycle traffic lights have made riding a bicycle a safe transit option for the average New Yorker.

I’d been wanting my own bike for a while, but never really found options that were functional (read as: stylish b/c duh) enough for me. That is, until I was introduced to Brooklyn Bicycle Company. Inspired by the streets of Brooklyn, they craft pieces that are built for style, comfort, and durability. They use the highest-quality materials – with a strong focus on sustainability and performance – for pieces that are authentic and (best of all) affordable.

After close to 3 months with my bike, I can honestly say that I’m in love. I opted for the Driggs in Army Green and it is one of the smoothest rides I’ve ever had. Aside from the sleek walnut accents (handsome as hell, right?!), it’s also got a pretty rad cargo-ready rear rack, which makes toting stuff between meetings a breeze. If you’re looking to snag your own bicycle, whether for daily transport or general fitness, definitely hop over to Brooklyn Bicycle Company. You won’t be disappointed!

Even if you don’t see a local BBC retailer, you can purchase online and Brooklyn Bicycle Co will have your bike assembled by one of your local bike shops – and you can go pick it up when it’s ready! How easy is that?

Okay… now get to shopping!
